Powerhouse Books

When I flew to shoot Deric & Victoria's wedding last month, we shot their portraits in the DUMBO area.  Before meeting up with them, I explored and had some lunch.  I was pleasantly surprised to come across Powerhouse Books.

I was pulled in by their iconic New York exterior with its large, inviting glass windows.  Inside was no disappointed as I was surrounded by clean, white walls and high industrial ceilings. Powerhouse Books itself is a fantastic bookstore.  Its books are well-curated with bits of fun doodads sprinkled throughout the store.  Powerhouse Books even had an excellent selection of children's books as well.  For it's high ceilings it still had a very warm book-lover-friendly atmosphere.

If I had more time I could have spent hours thumbing through their selection.

cheers to things to come.

"Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible - it cannot be seen or measured, yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment, and offer you more joy than any material possession could." Barbara de Angelis

Regretfully, I haven't kept up with this blog very well.  I can't say the reason why whether bad or good.  It's unidentifiable, but oh how I miss it writing.  I miss pouring out my heart in words and photos.  I miss documenting what I've been up to.  I have, actually, just not very well on this blog.

But life has been splendid.  And with every day I've been given, I cherish this give to live.

I have many shoots and weddings to share, and some that I want to share over and over and over again... like Naomi & Nate's.  Here's a picture from their New York session.  I have plenty more pictures from their photo shoot and others.  I'm so excited with all the weddings and sessions I've done so far.  I can't wait for this wedding season to really kick into gear.  :D  Happy summer, everyone!  See you at a wedding!

To finish off this four part series, here are some fun pictures of the whole fams, including Leigh & D's adorable dog, Seamus.  I really love how they've decorated their home.  It feels so styled yet effortless. I have so much fun with these guys, I can't wait to see how much C's grown the next time I'm in New York.  Yay!

a year of love | august.

July/August came and I finally got to meet Baby C.  Oh how I love babies.  C was so snuggle-able when I saw him.  Looking back on these pictures, it's crazy how much he's grown.  He definitely looked like an infant then.  I so miss this stage.  Babies are babies for such a short amount of time.  I took for granted how much C's changed since that first time I met him.  It makes me a little sad to think of all the babies growing up.  However, it does make me so happy to see these little ones grow.  It's really incredible how fast they grow. This time around I just photographed Leigh with C, as she had plenty of pictures of C with D, being the awesome photographer she is.  (She might deny it, but she's got a great eye.  Do you hear that, Leigh? I love your pictures!! And your blog!)

Anyway, I really love a lot of things.  I'll be honest.  But I really do love the things I love.  And one of those things I love is seeing first time parents with their babies.  There's this picture of my mom that I often think of.  She's sitting in an armchair cradling my (infant) sister, and there's this feeling of serenity and joy in the picture.  My mom and the light is so beautiful.  I'm not even in the picture, but yet this is one of my favorite pictures of my mom.  And that's how I want to capture my clients with their babies.  I want them to remember everything they loved about those early moments with their babies, to feel joy every time they see the picture.

So I LOVED this shoot of Leigh and C.  It marked a point in my business that I thought... "Yeah. I really am a photographer.  My photographs are exactly how I want them."

Enjoy these pictures!
